Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Criticality Safety Analyst to provide technical guidance and support to our team. As a Criticality Safety Analyst, you will be responsible for evaluating and mitigating criticality safety risks associated with fissionable material operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance to operating organization personnel on criticality safety evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with operating organization personnel to author criticality safety evaluations for new or proposed changes to existing significant quantity fissionable material operations.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of fissionable material operations to identify and mitigate criticality safety risks.
  • Lead and/or participate in NCS response to programmatic issues and criticality process deviations/infractions.
  • Participate in NCS emergency response preparation, including emergency procedures, plans, exercises, and drills.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with nuclear physics, criticality physics, and accident kinetics.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with criticality safety analysis tools such as SCALE/MCNP.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and good oral communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience providing technical guidance to operating organization personnel in the implementation of the LANL NCS Program.
  • Experience collaborating with operating organization personnel to author criticality safety evaluations for new or proposed changes to existing significant quantity fissionable material operations.
  • Experience conducting periodic reviews of fissionable material operations.
  • Experience leading and/or participating in NCS response to programmatic issues and criticality process deviations/infractions.
  • Experience participating in NCS emergency response preparation, including emergency procedures, plans, exercises, and drills.
