Nutrition Assistant Certifier I Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a qualified Nutrition Assistant Certifier I to join our team. As a key member of our WIC program, you will be responsible for participant enrollment, termination, orientation, and providing food benefits. You will also maintain client files, perform preliminary participant risk assessments, and provide basic nutrition education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date WIC charts and statistical program records.
- Interview clients from diverse populations and review their client history, anthropometric, and laboratory data.
- Compare information collected to program criteria to determine WIC eligibility and nutrition risk factors.
- Provide individual and group nutrition education according to program guidelines.
- Determine appropriate food packages and explain the nutrient content of WIC foods.
Requirements:
- High School or GED diploma.
- One year of previous experience as a WIC receptionist and/or in a WIC program.
- Interest and experience in basic nutrition and childhood development are desirable.
- 7-hour course in HIV/AIDS is required by the State.
- Medical Assistant-Registered Certification is required for Hemoglobin testing.
- Completion of the Minimum Paraprofessional Competencies is required.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Russian is preferred.
