Aquatics Director Job Description

At Great Wolf Lodge, we are seeking an experienced Aquatics Director to lead our waterpark operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest satisfaction and employee engagement while maintaining profitability within the aquatics function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations Management: Develop and implement comprehensive plans to support organizational objectives, effectively allocating resources and time across groups or departments.
  • Fiscal Management: Create and maintain departmental budgets, forecasts, and financial reports as needed; review and approve all purchases for the department.
  • Guest Service: Monitor, manage, and respond to guest comments and proactively address guest comments with operational resolutions.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate team member performance against standards; plan and implement staff training and development programs within the department.
  • Risk Management: Oversee Risk Management and Safety programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience managing large aquatics departments with various waterpark attractions.
  • Certifications: Ellis & Associates (E&A) International Lifeguard Training Program license, E&A Basic Leadership Training License, E&A Instructor License, Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) license.
  • Skills: Experience creating and maintaining documents with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); ability to motivate diverse groups to achieve extraordinary goals and overcome challenges.
Physical Requirements:
  • Swimming Ability: Swim 50 yards in 4 ft. of water and retrieve a 10 lb brick from the bottom of pool.
  • Physical Demands: Sit or stand for extended periods of time; extended exposure to hot and humid environments; climb multiple flights of stairs.
