WIIN PROGRAM INTERN

JOB LOCATION:
This position offers both in-person and remote work options.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • The WIIN Program intern will collaborate with our team for a duration of 9-13 weeks, contributing 10-20 hours per week.
  • We can accommodate your academic schedule to facilitate work during business hours.
  • Applicants must submit a resume, academic transcripts, and a cover letter that demonstrates how their skills align with this role, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Compensation will be determined based on educational background and relevant experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a motivated and engaged intern pursuing a degree who wishes to gain practical experience beyond the classroom. The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) is providing Arizona schools and childcare facilities with the opportunity to conduct lead testing in their drinking water at no cost. This initiative is part of a national program established by the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act of 2016.

As a WIIN intern, you will have the chance to:

  • Assist in identifying schools that require lead testing, prioritizing based on need and health equity considerations.
  • Help develop communication materials and engage in outreach to schools to promote the program and build community trust.
  • Collect and analyze metrics to monitor participation in the program.
  • Provide technical support to schools and childcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with team members on innovative ideas and strategies for the program.
  • Update resources and educational materials as needed.
  • Support the development of a data management tool.

You will receive guidance and mentorship from the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Manager and the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Team while working on group projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, including Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Customer service aptitude.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Employees who drive for state business must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for their duties. They are subject to driver's license checks and must complete any required driver training.
