Position Overview: Under the guidance of the expo facility coordinator and/or the expo manager, the individual in this role is responsible for executing a range of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks of limited complexity. The ability to comprehend, interpret, and adhere to verbal and/or written instructions, as well as the capacity to lift and transport items, is essential. Supervision and direction will be provided for new or challenging assignments. This role entails frequent interaction with the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and install poles, drapes, and other event equipment.
  • Disassemble and properly store poles, drapes, and other event equipment.
  • Assist attendees with inquiries regarding the facility.
  • Perform custodial tasks such as restocking supplies in restrooms, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning spills.
  • Transport tables and chairs and arrange them as requested.
  • Manage the concession area, including accurately processing payments and providing change.
  • Navigate uneven terrain during outdoor event preparations.
  • Collect litter both indoors and outdoors.
  • Lift trash containers and dispose of waste in dumpsters.
Additional Duties:
  • Perform other related tasks as necessary or required.
Qualifications:

Competency Requirements:
  • Accuracy - Ability to perform tasks accurately and thoroughly.
  • Communication - Ability to effectively communicate with others using spoken and written language.
  • Problem Solving - Limited problem-solving is required in this role.
Skills & Abilities:

Requirements: Must pass a post-offer drug screening. Provide personal transportation to and from the facility.

Experience: This is an entry-level position. A variety of experiences and skills will be beneficial.

Education: No minimum educational requirement for this position.

Skills: Bilingual abilities are advantageous but not mandatory. Familiarity with basic hand tools, cleaning equipment, and calculators is helpful. Employees will receive training on necessary skills and are expected to retain that knowledge.

Problem Solving: This position does not require problem-solving. Duties follow established policies and procedures.

Decision Making: Limited decision-making is involved in this role. Duties adhere to prescribed policies and procedures.

Accountability: Employees are not responsible for budgetary control of the department and do not participate in the annual budget process.

Supervision: Supervision is provided multiple times daily, and the supervisor reviews all job-related decisions. Employees do not have supervisory responsibilities over others.

Interpersonal Relations: Frequent interaction with other county departments and the general public requires the ability to communicate and relate positively and effectively.

Working Conditions: This position requires both indoor and outdoor work depending on event requirements. Late nights and weekends are common. Event setup and teardown typically occur during weekdays but can be adjusted as necessary. Employees must be able to wear personal protective equipment when required.
