Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight:
    • Direct and oversee structural projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with project scope, budget, and timeline.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop project plans, reports, schedules, and budgets.
    • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and various engineering/planning disciplines to achieve project goals.
    • Track project progress, identify potential risks, and implement strategies to mitigate them for successful project delivery.
    • Conduct regular project meetings, provide updates, and maintain clear communication with project team members to ensure alignment and accountability.
    • Exhibit proficiency across multiple project phases (planning, design, construction, etc.).
  • Structural Design Expertise:
    • Offer technical guidance in structural design, reports, estimates, and construction processes. Assist in the creation of design plans and specifications as required.
    • Oversee modeling and analysis utilizing industry-standard software.
    • Review and validate reports to ensure alignment with KLJ's quality standards.
    • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments as necessary to fulfill project requirements.
    • Facilitate public engagement meetings as mandated by the project.
  • Client Relations:
    • Act as the primary liaison for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional project work.
    • Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality engineering and planning solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Team Development:
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers, planners, and project team members.
    • Encourage a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth.
    • Effectively delegate tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback to foster individual and team development.
    • Serve as a technical resource/lead on large-scale projects or tasks.
  • Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Review project deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards.
    • Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to enhance project outcomes and deliverables.
Qualifications

Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or equivalent certification.
  • Master's degree with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Prior project management experience in a professional services environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of codes, regulations, and industry standards related to structural engineering.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in pursuing and managing structural engineering projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects concurrently, and adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Sound judgment and interpretation skills to establish appropriate guidelines in various situations.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy while interacting with others to effectively perform the job.
