Shift: Day shift, 8 hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend coverage every four to five weeks.
Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time
Key Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Systems Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The selected candidate will:
- Possess plumbing expertise with experience in pumps, steam systems, drain/sewer lines, and domestic water piping, or HVACR proficiency with CRAC units, evaporative coolers, and Air Handler Units (AHU).
- Oversee the daily operations and upkeep of all mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring the effective delivery of temperature-controlled air that meets customer specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms, operate Siemens Insight HVAC control systems, and address any performance-related issues.
- Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) for time tracking and metrics reporting.
Maintenance Tasks Include:
- Repairing or replacing components of air handlers, exhaust fans, and water pumps.
- Troubleshooting control system issues.
- Executing preventative and corrective maintenance as outlined in work orders and manufacturer guidelines.

Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or GED) with at least 1 year of general experience; or an Associate's degree with no prior experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of buildings, with a strong focus on either HVACR or plumbing systems.
- Must possess or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in maintaining kitchen equipment in a cafeteria environment.
- Refrigerant handling certification level II or higher.
- Familiarity with government-operated or commercial data centers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
- Knowledge of balancing air and water systems within air handlers, VAVs, FCUs, and fan-powered terminals.
- Experience with Reverse Osmosis systems, steam heating, hydronic water pumps, and condensate pumping stations.
- Ability to analyze maintenance issues using layout and schematic drawings.
This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $27.16 to $39.18, along with a $2 hiring bonus, depending on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
