Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in an equitable learning environment. The successful candidate will teach courses via various delivery modes, including on-ground, online, and hybrid or web-enhanced formats, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in English, Composition, Writing, or Literature, utilizing the College's learning management system to provide course materials to students.
  • Work with course leads and/or program coordinators to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences.
  • Submit updated department syllabus prior to the first day of class.
  • Regularly check College email account and department mailbox, responding to emails/messages within 48 hours, except on weekends.
  • Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, student progress reports, grade submissions, and administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the deadlines.
  • Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Comply with all College and Tennessee Board of Regents policies and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in English, Composition, Writing, or Literature, or Master's degree in another discipline with 18 graduate credits in English, Composition, Writing, or Literature.
  • College-level teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with various instructional delivery modes, including synchronous and asynchronous online teaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation

The rate of pay for this position is $740.00 per credit hour.
