Job Summary:

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled Instructional Lead to join our team at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf. As a collaborative member of the core leadership team, you will play a crucial role in providing a cohesive educational program for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve on the core leadership team and assist in building and sustaining the school mission and vision.
  • Oversee school climate and foster a positive school environment.
  • Provide instructional leadership and participate in professional development for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize data to make instructional decisions and guide school success.
  • Support a learning environment based on high expectations and respect for all individuals.
  • Practice shared decision making and assist in the selection process of quality teachers and staff.
  • Supervise student support staff and manage substitute coverage for teaching staff.
  • Manage scheduling classroom support and serve on the placement/evaluation team for students.
  • Provide professional growth opportunities for staff and establish mentoring programs.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with teachers, students, parents, and the community.
  • Assist in coordinating school safety components and daily operations.
  • Manage technology resources and exhibit professionalism and demonstrate professional standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Deaf Education.
  • Experience in implementing Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans.
  • Four years of program management experience in an educational setting.
  • Experience working in a school serving Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
  • Strong understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and IEP plans.
  • Experience implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Experience managing school operations and using assessment data to support student learning outcomes.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) without the use of an interpreter.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in education, administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • L-5 certification.
  • Two years of program management experience in an educational setting.
