The Department of Ophthalmology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is seeking a Physician to contribute to our exceptional patient care. Opportunities for appointment at the level of Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor are available based on experience.

Academic appointment, rank, and salary will be aligned with qualifications and primary board certification. Compensation is highly competitive.

Position Summary

The Physician will provide and manage direct medical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, and care for patients within a recognized area of practice or for a specific patient population.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver and oversee direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a designated patient population.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as necessary.
  • Train and supervise medical students and residents involved in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
  • May oversee the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement goals, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Participate in specified health promotion, education, and prevention programs as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain department productivity standards.
  • Ensure faculty status in good standing with the CWRU SOM (if applicable).
  • Comply with core physician obligations as outlined in the Physician Policy Manual.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess and maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio.
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must adhere to all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
