SVP Worldwide, a leading entity in the consumer sewing machine sector, is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Senior Tax Associate. This position is integral to our Tax Department, directly supporting the VP of Tax while ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic.

The Senior Tax Associate will engage in various responsibilities including tax compliance, oversight of indirect sales tax, maintenance of tax accounts, and involvement in special projects. This role necessitates a commitment to a 40-hour work week, with a requirement to be present in the Nashville office three days a week, while offering flexibility for remote work on the remaining days.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare documentation and support for federal and state direct income tax workpapers through comprehensive data analysis.
  • Manage tax compliance processes, operating without tax software.
  • Develop state and local income tax apportionment workpapers.
  • Code tax payments and professional fee invoices for the Accounts Payable department.
  • Review and approve monthly sales and local tax returns and vouchers.
  • Collaborate closely with the Indirect Tax Manager.
  • Provide necessary information and filings for annual reports in the US and Canada.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance and reconciliations of general ledger Direct Tax accounts.
  • Maintain and update the Federal and State income tax matrix, adjustments, and journal entries as required.
  • Assist the VP of Tax in resolving notices from Tax Authorities regarding indirect and direct taxes.
  • Coordinate online income tax payments with various state and federal agencies as directed.
  • Support the maintenance of multiple entity online Tax Authority accounts.
  • Provide indirect tax consulting support for future e-commerce initiatives.
  • Assist in ensuring timely deadlines for business licenses and gross receipts tax filings.
  • Support the VP of Tax and local global offices in preparing quarterly and annual transfer pricing calculations and filings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Excel.
  • Experience with Bloomberg Tax Depreciation software and fixed asset depreciation.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in Direct Income Tax compliance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership regarding deadlines.
  • Professional inquisitiveness and a passion for tax.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards accounting system is a plus.
