We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our Governance and Member Services Department. The successful candidate will assist the Senior Director in all governance and volunteer engagement functions, including serving as a governance consultant to AILA\u2019s 39 local Chapters and managing staff responsible for volunteer management and elected leadership recruitment and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the Membership Committee on matters involving member eligibility and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor/resource to AILA\u2019s 39 Chapters on association management and compliance matters.
  • Design, develop, and implement strategies to build and maintain strong operational relationships between AILA and the Chapters.
  • In collaboration with Manager, Volunteer Engagement, identify areas of potential concern among the Chapter Chairs; communicate issues with key stakeholders within the organization as needed.
  • Offer counsel to Chapter Chairs and staff regarding governance practices and establishing preventative and mitigating measures to operational and programmatic concerns.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\u2019s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven to nine years of association experience in governance, Board support, and working with chapters or other similar volunteer groups.
  • Hands-on experience working with volunteer leadership.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
