Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at NYU Langone Radiology - Lake Success. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures in the application of radionuclides.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Nuclear Medicine equipment, including Gamma cameras, Thyroid Uptake probe, dose calibrator, and Geiger counter.
  • Produce diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Perform calibrations and Quality Control procedures, and maintain proper maintenance of required records.
  • Prepare and inject or orally administer radionuclides to patients.
  • Identify patients and procedures, and maintain dose logs and properly dispose of radioactive waste.
  • Adhere to Radiation safety, Infection Control, and all other safety regulations.
  • Enter proper exam codes into the Radiology Information System, and arrive and complete exams in a timely manner.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, and report any equipment problems or malfunctions to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Instruct and supervise Nuclear Medicine students in clinical practice, and work with students to perform exams and perform individual image evaluation.
Requirements
  • Technical Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related health field.
  • New Graduates must have a Nuclear Medicine permit issued by NYS Department of Health, and a New York State license in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of Nuclear Technologist experience.
