Veterinary Technician

The University of Georgia is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in teaching veterinary students clinical skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching various clinical skills, including basic clinical skills and assisting with teaching more complex skills. The Veterinary Technician will work closely with the Director of Clinical Skills Lab and other technicians to develop and implement teaching plans.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach veterinary students various clinical skills, including basic clinical skills and assisting with teaching more complex skills
* Work with the Director of Clinical Skills Lab and other technicians to develop and implement teaching plans
* Organize laboratories and order supplies, maintenance and care of laboratory equipment and instruments, regular cleaning and stocking of work areas
* Create and demonstrate clinical skills models and management and coordination of the professional skills communication class with the Department of Theatre and Film Studies
* Assist with clinical research projects, maintain accurate records with research projects, work with multiple investigators, order and maintain supplies for various research projects
Requirements
* Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate
* Familiarity with basic clinical skills for all four species, including collecting blood and other specimens, inserting catheters, administration of medications, basic anesthetic techniques, and euthanasia
* Ability to work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery
* Ability to wear protective clothing, including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.

* Work with animals, including four species, and be able to handle them safely and humanely
* Work in a laboratory setting, including exposure to chemicals and medications
