Job Summary

ODESSA-CITY OF is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Solid Waste Laborer to join our team. As a key member of our Solid Waste division, you will be responsible for performing a variety of labor tasks, including collecting and transferring solid waste, refuse, and discarded materials. You will also assist in maintaining vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standard procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks, including collecting and transferring solid waste, refuse, and discarded materials
Assist in maintaining vehicles and equipment, in compliance with Solid Waste division safety regulations and procedures
Utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed, reporting problems and emergency situations
Support the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance
Maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with co-workers and City staff

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
Related work experience is preferred but not required
Valid Driver's license; CDL is preferred but not required
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities. It requires constant physical effort and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects. Workers may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment. Safety precautions must be followed, including the use of safety equipment. City-approved safety shoes must be worn. Saturday work is mandatory or as needed by the SW Director/Superintendent.
