Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Solid Waste Worker to join our team at ODESSA-CITY OF. As a key member of our Solid Waste division, you will be responsible for performing basic labor tasks in the collecting and transferring of solid waste. This role requires close supervision and involves operating vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks, including collecting and transferring solid waste, refuse, and discarded materials.
Assists with maintaining vehicles and equipment, adhering to Solid Waste division safety regulations and procedures.
Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed, reporting problems and emergency situations, and recognizing, avoiding, and reporting unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
Supports the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance and maintains a positive working relationship with colleagues and the public.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Related work experience is preferred but not required.
Possess a valid Driver's license; a CDL is preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:
This role involves working indoors, outdoors, and at City facilities, requiring constant physical effort and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects. Workers may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment, necessitating the use of safety equipment and City-approved safety shoes. Saturday work is mandatory or as needed by the SW Director/Superintendent.
