About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at The George Washington University Hospital. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing pharmaceutical care to our patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary care teams to ensure the highest quality of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage chemotherapy review and compounding with the support of the Oncology physician(s), faculty and house staff physicians, pharmacists.
  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching.
  • Process orders for chemotherapy medications, monitor patients' drug therapies and provide drug information.
  • Supervise and direct supportive staff.
  • Advise physicians on matters pertaining to drug usage and control within assigned hospital locations.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of continuing education programs for Pharmacy, Patient Care Services, Medical staff and students.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) required.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice in the District of Columbia.
  • Completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency (or equivalent) (preferred).
  • Completed a specialized clinical residency/fellowship in Oncology (preferred).
  • BPS Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (preferred).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
  • Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy.
  • Pyxis experience with knowledge of Pyxis Reports (i.e., optimization, load/unload, nursing narcotic access, etc.).
  • Ability to use Cerner, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
