Role Summary:

The Senior IT Architect defines the architectural vision, conceptualizes, and tests various architectural strategies. This position is accountable for developing and validating the architecture and high-level solution design in alignment with business requirements. The Senior IT Architect collaborates with the Solution Architecture team, development teams, and vendors to design and implement effective solutions. This role ensures that teams adhere to the envisioned business and technology direction by articulating the architectural vision throughout the lifecycle of individual projects.

The primary focus for this role is on the architecture, configuration, design, and implementation of a significant digital commerce B2C/B2B SaaS offering. While specific experience with Salesforce Demandware is preferred, it is not mandatory. The ideal candidate should have completed several end-to-end implementations of a commerce SaaS offering and possess a comprehensive understanding of product catalogs, vouchers, payments, order management, and the delineation of responsibilities between ERP and commerce. Experience in integrating digital commerce tools with backend software and content management systems is advantageous. Familiarity with commerce tools that support both B2B and B2C business models is also beneficial.

Creativity and assertiveness are essential in this role to drive solutions toward optimal simplicity and abstraction. The candidate must maintain ongoing dialogue with product owners and stakeholders to facilitate simplification and acceleration by influencing project scope.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with extensive coursework in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and abilities is required.

Experience Required:

A minimum of 8 years in IT, with at least 3 years in IT Architecture and application design.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with IT Architecture methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Full software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience.
  • Diverse IT solutions design and development experience.
  • Familiarity with architecture principles and frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, Gartner, DOD, etc.).
  • Knowledge of application and integration design methodologies, standards, and best practices (SOA, OOAD, AOP).
  • Experience in business requirements gathering, Joint Application Design (JAD), Business Process Modeling (BPM), and Business Process Decomposition.
  • Proficiency in UML and business process modeling.
  • Experience with Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and business integration.
  • Understanding of industry-standard processes (SDLC, CMMI, Change Management, ITIL, etc.).
  • Familiarity with User Interfaces (Web, GUI, Legacy, Handhelds) and usability methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design and data modeling.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Vendor package selection experience (Leverage, Build, and Buy decisions).
  • Familiarity with audit and compliance policies (SOX, HIPAA).
  • Technical and infrastructure architecture design experience is desirable.
  • Experience in software performance engineering practice and consultation.

Hands-on experience in one or more of the following technologies is required:

  • Cloud architecture and implementation (AWS or Azure preferred).
  • Java, Java EE, Spring Boot, Java Application Servers (WebSphere, JBoss).
  • .NET technologies.
  • TypeScript.
  • Database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or SQL Server.
  • Operating systems including Linux and/or Windows.
