Position Overview:

Incentives:
Sign-on bonuses available up to $20,000.00. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will oversee the delegation, supervision, and delivery of nursing care for a designated group of patients, utilizing the nursing process effectively. You will provide care that is appropriate for various age groups, engage in research when applicable, and integrate research findings into evidence-based clinical practices. Your contributions will be vital to our quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:
A Diploma in Nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Candidates must meet one of the following educational criteria: 1) BSN 2) Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing with enrollment in a BSN or MSN program. 3) Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing with a national certification.

Licensure and Certification:
An active RN license in the State of Illinois is mandatory. Current BLS/CPR certification is required as per policy. National certification is necessary for specific roles.

Skills and Abilities:

Candidates must be capable of positioning and/or transferring an average adult patient and possess the gross coordination necessary for other patient care tasks. The ability to endure prolonged periods of standing and perform complex manipulative skills, such as IV insertion and IM injections, is essential.

Work conditions may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially hazardous materials.


Ongoing Credentialing Requirements:

  • Participation in all mandatory in-services as specified by Joint Commission, OSHA, and hospital/nurse management.
  • Validation of competencies and acquisition of credentials as outlined in unit-specific requirements.
  • Completion of an annual self-evaluation during performance appraisal.
  • Submission of documentation to validate current Clinical Ladder status at the time of performance appraisal.
Clinical Ladder credit ranges are as follows (completion of the probationary period is required for promotion):

Clinical Nurse I:
Registered Nurse achieving 0-9 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid.

Clinical Nurse II:

Registered Nurse achieving 10-19 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least two categories.


Clinical Nurse III:

Registered Nurse achieving 20-29 credits on the Clinical Ladder Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories. A minimum BSN, enrollment in a BSN or MSN program, or national certification is required for new applicants.


Key Responsibilities:
Professional Nursing Care:
- Conduct age-appropriate assessments.
- Analyze data to identify nursing challenges.
- Define individualized patient outcomes.
- Develop an interdisciplinary, personalized care plan in collaboration with patients and families.
- Implement specified interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust the care plan as necessary.

Supervision and Delegation:
- Delegate patient care tasks to LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel based on job descriptions, individual capabilities, and patient needs.
- Communicate patient status and performance expectations clearly.
- Supervise the performance of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel appropriately.
- Foster teamwork in supervision and delegation.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
- Utilize therapeutic communication techniques.
- Exhibit assertiveness in communication.
- Share relevant patient information with other healthcare team members.
- Document patient care in accordance with Memorial policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper implementation of physician's orders.
- Access electronic data to enhance patient care.
- Create and maintain a collaborative work environment.
- Engage in interdisciplinary planning and decision-making.
- Mentor new nursing staff and/or nursing students.
