Job Description

As a Senior Mass Spectrometry Laboratory Manager at LetsGetChecked, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our mass spectrometry laboratory, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of analytical results. This role involves supervising a team of scientists and technicians, managing laboratory resources, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Operations Management: Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the mass spectrometry lab, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry instruments and related equipment.
  • Technical Supervision: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff, including training on mass spectrometry techniques, data analysis, and instrument operation. Develop and implement new methodologies and protocols to improve laboratory capabilities and efficiency.
  • Project Management and Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, scientists, and other stakeholders to design and execute mass spectrometry experiments that support research and development goals. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of results and effective communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of scientists and technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field is required; a Master's or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Must hold a current State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License as Generalist or Clinical Chemist Scientist.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in Chemistry.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mass spectrometry, including hands-on experience with various mass spectrometers (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS, MALDI-TOF, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in method development, validation, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of mass spectrometry instrumentation, software, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience in team management and development.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
