Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water & Safety Instructor to join our team at the JCC Association. As a Water & Safety Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment for swim instruction for all age groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective swim instruction programs for children and adults.
  • Ensure the safety of swim team/lesson members, performing lifesaving and/or first aid procedures when necessary.
  • Enforce team rules and policies as well as pool rules and regulations.
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to swimmers to enhance their swimming skills and development.
  • Communicate regularly with participants and their parents to ensure they are aware of progress.
  • Perform various administrative duties in support of the swim team, including responding to questions and memos, creating workouts, and assisting with meet entries.
  • Be familiar and operate a variety of pool, office, and coaching equipment.
  • Complete records and reports.
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor, such as lifeguarding and assisting with preschool activities.
Requirements
  • Current certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
  • Current Certification in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid are preferred.
Working Conditions

The work environment for lifeguards is usually hot and humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
