Job Description:

Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary is seeking a highly qualified Preschool Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a valid California credential in speech/language or communicatively handicapped and experience working with preschool students with mild to moderate special education needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct instruction to preschool students with mild to moderate developmental delays, including speech/language skills.
  • Coordinate IEP team meetings with the special education administrator and other relevant staff members.
  • Assess preschool students in speech/language and preacademic skills, and develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Collaborate with district staff and other providers to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Facilitate transitions from infant/toddler programs to district preschool and preschool to kindergarten.
  • Communicate effectively with administrators, staff, and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Organize and prepare classroom materials and activities that promote social interaction and developmentally appropriate fine and large motor skills.
  • Participate in site and special education staff meetings to stay informed and contribute to the development of district-wide initiatives.
  • Train and supervise paraeducators to ensure they have the necessary skills and support to effectively support students.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Valid California credential with appropriate authorizations.
  • Experience working with preschool students with mild to moderate special education needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to assess and develop individualized education plans.
  • Knowledge of speech/language acquisition and developmentally appropriate intervention methods.
