ROLE SUMMARY


A Senior System Administrator is responsible for the support, implementation, and design of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure/Entra Active Directory (in a Global Admin Role), and Windows-based systems throughout the organization, including directory and identity management solutions.

This role involves resolving and effectively completing assigned cases and change requests while serving as an escalation point for support issues. The administrator will apply innovative solutions through research and teamwork, determining the course of action for new application initiatives and implementing new software solutions as required by the business.

The core responsibilities include managing enterprise Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and global system security and policy configuration (Group Policy), along with providing top-level support for enterprise-wide initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively supports all initiatives aimed at simplifying and enhancing the customer experience.
- Maintains and administers computing environments, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Recommends enhancements to improve systems and network configurations, determining hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Troubleshoots server issues as reported by users.
- Utilizes established change management processes, ensuring operational procedures are performed with minimal customer impact.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends software and hardware products.
- Supports web access and electronic messaging services while maintaining a secure systems environment.
- Provides hardware specifications to users based on application and business needs and anticipated growth; installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure.
- Defines monitoring procedures and evaluates, diagnoses, and establishes work plans to resolve system issues.
- Troubleshoots complex hardware, software, and network problems.
- Collaborates on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally taking on project leadership roles.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 8-10 years of related IT work experience.

Education:
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of business users.
- Increased knowledge and ability to make decisions regarding service ticket requests utilizing software such as Remedy.
- Expert-level knowledge of system administration tasks and the ability to provide recommendations on resource utilization.

Abilities:
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to lead other staff performing similar work within the department.
- Capable of providing training and instruction, helping to set the work pace within the department.

Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform after-hours tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Azure/Entra Active Directory, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with Domain Naming Services (DNS) in a multi-domain environment.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell).
- Knowledge of Group and Conditional Access Policies, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Least Privileged concepts.
- Experience with Radiant Logic Virtual Directory Services (VDS).
