Job Summary:

As a key member of the healthcare team at Forrest General Hospital, the Clinical Nutrition Specialist will plan, direct, and implement nutrition intervention to patients based on specified assessment criteria. This role requires collaboration with other healthcare team members to coordinate hospital therapy and plan post-discharge care. The ideal candidate will provide nutrition therapy and education to promote healthier lifestyles, maintain professionalism, and serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans for patients
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate care
  • Provide nutrition education and therapy to promote healthier lifestyles
  • Maintain professionalism and provide services in accordance with clinical standards
  • Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or food service management
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Work experience in a healthcare facility preferred
  • Current license with the MS State Board of Health
  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Mental Demands:

  • Demonstrate expertise in clinical dietetic practice and the role of nutrition in health maintenance
  • Knowledge and application of medical terminology, pharmacology, and health systems
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, administration, and other healthcare personnel
