About this Position

As a Commercial HVAC Service Technician at Carrier, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service and comfort. This position offers the chance to deepen your expertise in Commercial HVAC systems while engaging in a variety of installation, repair, and maintenance tasks. You will collaborate with a skilled team, showcasing your ability to work both independently and as part of a group. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about their craft and eager to elevate their skills.

Carrier values its partnerships with Union workers and is committed to compensating for all travel time. Additionally, we offer an on-call schedule designed to promote a healthy work-life balance, with rotations occurring every 7-8 weeks in most locations.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory
  • Eligibility for the Union Apprentice Program or current enrollment
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of air-conditioning units to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform routine maintenance on heating and cooling systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
  • Install, replace, or repair malfunctioning equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls
  • Install new HVAC systems; repair or replace damaged components and refrigerant lines
  • Monitor pressure levels of liquids and vapors to ensure efficient unit operation; service refrigeration equipment
  • Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems
  • Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; clean coils and check motor functions
  • Assemble and install metal ductwork
  • Assist in the planning and design of new HVAC installations
  • Maintain maintenance records in compliance with regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with job duties
  • Collaborate with management to uphold safe working conditions
Knowledge Required:
  • Understanding of HVAC maintenance and repair principles and safety practices
  • Familiarity with HVAC controls and safety devices; knowledge of tools and materials used in the trade
  • Proficiency in computerized electrical systems related to HVAC
  • Basic skills in sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
  • Foundational knowledge of building automation controls
