Job SummaryThe Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. This role utilizes current evidence-based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on their physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The practitioner works under the direction of the leadership team to provide respiratory services associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. The practitioner is responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices as recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate the treatment and procedures that contribute to the Respiratory Care Plan.
- Complete all documentation and ensure all orders are current, completed, or discontinued.
- Participate and assist in meetings, projects, and in-services relative to the improvement of RHS Respiratory Care Services.
- Utilize proper infection control techniques in the performance of duties and in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Work with physicians and nurses to create treatment plans and evaluate progress.
- Associates Degree, Respiratory Therapy, or a related field (Required) or Bachelors Degree, Respiratory Therapy, or a related field (Preferred).
- 1 year Respiratory Therapist experience (Preferred).
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) RCP license with the Virginia Department of Health Professions Upon Hire (Required).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire (Required).
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required).
- ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 1 Year (Required).
- PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 1 Year (Preferred).
