REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. is preferred but not mandatory
  • PCA Certification is required (assistance available through recruitment)
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have access to a reliable vehicle
  • One year of experience in homecare is preferred
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old
  • Proficiency in English is required
  • Ability to lift, turn, position, and transfer clients weighing up to 50lbs
  • Capability to communicate changes in the client's condition to the supervising professional
  • Applicants should maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • Recent negative TB screening results are necessary

Role of a Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

The PCA is responsible for delivering essential health care tasks, personal hygiene assistance, light housekeeping, and other support services as outlined in the client's Care Plan, which are vital for the client's health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist clients with daily living activities (ADLs), which may include:
  • Dressing – Helping clients choose and put on appropriate clothing.
  • Grooming – Supporting personal hygiene routines, including hair care and oral hygiene.
  • Bathing – Assisting with bathing or showering, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Eating – Aiding clients with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
  • Transfers – Helping clients move between different positions or locations.
  • Mobility – Assisting with ambulation and use of mobility aids.
  • Toileting – Supporting clients with elimination needs and personal care.
  • Monitoring and prompting clients during daily activities.
Assist with health-related procedures, including:
  • Range of motion exercises to promote mobility.
  • Maintenance of prosthetics and orthotics.
  • Cleaning and upkeep of medical equipment.
  • Following care plans for specific health conditions.
  • Providing special skin care as required.
  • Assisting with self-administered medications under client direction.
Support clients in completing instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), such as:
  • Meal planning and preparation.
  • Light housekeeping tasks.
  • Laundry duties.
  • Assisting with bill payments.
  • Shopping for essential items.
  • Accompanying clients to appointments.
  • Engaging in recreational activities.

Compensation: Pay ranges from $15 to $20 per hour, depending on experience and client needs.
