Job Overview

Position: Service Technician

Position Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for the repair, customization, maintenance, and overhaul of both customer-owned and dealer-owned motorcycles, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and execute work assignments from the Service Advisor or Manager.
  • Proactively request necessary parts for each job as soon as requirements are identified.
  • Conduct service, repair, and customization tasks in line with factory specifications.
  • Communicate with the Service Advisor or Manager regarding any additional work required or delays in project timelines to keep customers informed.
  • Ensure that the customer’s vehicle is returned in a cleaner condition than when it was received.
  • Complete and file all necessary paperwork accurately after job completion.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, assisting colleagues in keeping the shop tidy.
  • Support the Service Writer with writing work orders, customer communication, test rides, and other tasks to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current with technical qualifications by participating in required training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.

Supervisory Duties

  • None

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Completion of factory-authorized training programs such as MMI Service School or equivalent experience.
  • Possession of the necessary tools for the job.
  • Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with all team members.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver motorcycles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement.
  • A genuine passion for motorcycles and the riding community.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High energy and enthusiasm are essential.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficient in meeting deadlines consistently.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use both hands effectively.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling tools, and lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to balance and push motorcycles weighing over 800 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Typically, a loud work environment.
  • Potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning agents, and other hazardous materials commonly found in vehicle service areas.
  • Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes and airborne particles.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical components.
