Job Title: Unit Secretary/Behavioral Service Tech

Reports To: Department Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt/hourly

Job Summary

The Unit Secretary/Behavioral Service Tech plays a vital role in the patient care team, contributing to the well-being and comfort of patients during their stay by providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the registered nurse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned treatments, procedures, and other related tasks according to facility policies/protocols and within the scope of the CNA position.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, ambulation, mobility, positioning, mealtime, oral care, and foley drains/ostomies, as needed, utilizing adaptive equipment as indicated.
  • Actively participate in the established plan of care.
  • Respond promptly to call lights, provide transport, maintain a clean environment, and follow principles of infection control.
  • Accurately document on graphic and flow sheets in computer charting: vital signs, weights, and ADL care provided.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, and par levels and fill out purchase orders.
  • Tabulate statistics for end-of-month reporting.
  • Accurately perform scheduling and coordination of patient/resident activities.
  • Fax, copy, and file documents as requested and required.

Requirements


• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained before completion of orientation.

Education and Experience


• High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Experience

1 Year experience in behavioral health services

Substitutions allowed:

College training in mental health technology, a behavioral science, social work, rehabilitation therapy, or its equivalent may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling six (6) month of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Completion of a mental health training certificate program may be substituted for six (6) months.
