We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to provide comprehensive educational support to students with visual impairments in a fully remote setting. This role is ideal for a passionate educator who wants to make a positive impact in the lives of students with disabilities.

Job Overview

As a Remote TVI, you will collaborate with students, families, and other members of the educational team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), facilitate virtual instruction, and provide ongoing support to ensure academic success. You will be responsible for providing virtual instruction and support in core academic subjects, including Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, adaptive technology, and daily living skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with students with visual impairments and experience using assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. You should also be proficient in Braille literacy and possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement IEPs: Create tailored IEPs that meet the unique needs of each student with visual impairments.
  • Virtual Instruction and Support: Provide high-quality virtual instruction and support in core academic subjects, including Braille literacy and adaptive technology.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with students, families, and other educational professionals to assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
  • Valid state certification/licensure in New Mexico as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Previous experience working with students with visual impairments in a school or educational setting.
  • Proficiency in Braille literacy and knowledge of adaptive technology tools for individuals with visual impairments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
