Speech Language Pathologist

At Bridges Public Charter School, we are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide speech and language services for students in self-contained non-categorical classrooms and general education classrooms.
This is a part-time or contracted hourly position that offers flexibility in schedule and caseload hours. The ideal candidate will have experience working with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems or a strong desire to learn more about AAC.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to IEPs/504 plans. You will conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills.
You will develop treatment plans (IEPs/504 plans) that are strength-based as well as child and family-centered for overall educational improvement. You will ensure evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.
You will assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders. You will consult with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection.
You will ensure students' skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers. You will complete treatment notes and progress reports in a timely manner and according to school policy.
You will manage a detailed log of service provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences. You will document all aspects of work with students in EasyIEP according to school and state guidelines.
You will communicate and coordinate with the Director of Student Support Services and Special Education Coordinator(s) to ensure school mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced.
You will design and conduct professional development series starting at staff orientation and ending at the end of the school year. You will design and conduct training for parents and families.
You will maintain an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies. You will maintain appropriate, confidential records.
You will keep abreast of best practices in speech-language therapy and language development. You will adhere to all district and cooperative health and safety policies including all precautions of Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
You will engage parents and families in their child's learning and act as an ambassador for the school in the community. You will contribute productively to the school as a whole.
You will attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours. Other duties as assigned.
Professional Responsibilities
You will adhere to the 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or a 7:30 am - 3:30 pm work day for a full-time staff position. Hours are flexible for part-time employees and contracted SLPs.
You will regularly attend work and adhere to all attendance policies. You will be on time for classes, duties, team meetings, and professional development activities.
You will respond to all emails within 24 hours or the next business day.

Qualifications
You will have a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech-language pathology.
ASHA certification is preferred.
You will have a current DC DOH license or be qualified for DC licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
You will have two years of related experience, preferably with preschool/elementary school-aged children with a range of communication disorders.
You will demonstrate knowledge of current best practices in the area of speech-language pathology.
You will demonstrate effective communication skills and an ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
You will be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
You will have a track record of being a team player and community-minded.
You will be committed to his/her own learning.
You will have excellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and to problem-solve.
You will adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards.
Salary & Benefits
The salary for this part-time salaried employee for a 10-month position is $36,000.00 - $49,000.00 per year.
Salary is negotiable for part-time and contracted employees. Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience.
This part-time position (non-contractual) is not eligible for Bridges benefits but is eligible for DC Sick Time. DC Sick Time counts 1 hour of Sick time for every 37 hours worked.
To ensure safety for all students, all staff members will be fingerprinted. Background checks will be conducted on all school staff prior to their service as employees.
