About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed healthcare providers in the delivery of eye care services, including patient preparation, examination, and treatment.
  • Provide individualized patient care, including taking medical histories, performing vision tests, and administering eye care treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in ophthalmic care.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; experience in an ophthalmic care setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
