Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our team at The Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic opportunities for patients in the psychiatric inpatient treatment setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept and implement recreational therapy referrals for individual patients and/or groups of patients.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic programs to promote healthy leisure and recreational activities.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide assessment, intervention, and program planning.
  • Assist with discharge planning and provide related documentation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence to meet essential job functions.
  • Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, performance improvement, and cost reduction.
