Trauma Program Registrar Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trauma Program Registrar to join our team at South Shore Health. As a Trauma Program Registrar, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of trauma registry data, which is essential for maintaining Level 2 Trauma Verification by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Abstract and enter trauma registry data, including demographics, pre-hospital, ED, inpatient, diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, and procedures.
  • Review and manage ICD and AIS coding, report generation, and all state and national downloads.
  • Identify and correct ICD-10 code errors in coding summaries.
  • Ensure all registry data is complete and accurate prior to submitting to supervisor for review and final submission of reports to required regulatory agencies.
  • Support the Trauma Program to ensure Level 2 Trauma Verification by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is maintained.
  • Conduct Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO) and American College of Surgeons (ACS) mandated audits of files.
  • Complete 80% of trauma records within 60 days of patient discharge.
  • Participate in State trauma activities, meetings, and conferences at the request of the Trauma Program Manager.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years experience in Health Information or Nursing.
  • Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Nursing preferred.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with flexibility to work 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Option available to work remote in this role, but must live in MA. May be asked to attend in-person team meetings from time to time.

(Salary Range: $20.00-$30.00/hr)
