Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Med/Surg team at South Shore Health. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  1. Medication Administration
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, following South Shore Health policies and procedures.
  • Complete medication reconciliation process, ensuring accurate and up-to-date medication lists.
  • Document narcotic administration, verification, and disposal, adhering to South Shore Health policies.
Plan of Care/Documentation/Patient Family Centered Care/Patient Experience
  • Develop, discuss, and communicate a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient.
  • Initiate admission assessment within 8 hours of admission, identifying and documenting patient/family/significant other teaching needs.
  • Continuously assess and reassess patient care needs, documenting outcomes and updates to the plan of care.
Safety/Quality
  • Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to invasive procedures, ensuring accurate and safe care.
  • Comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines, adhering to universal precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure a safe environment, meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining awareness of MSDS sheets.
Professional Development
  • Assume responsibility for own professional development, incorporating evidenced-based practice, research, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Obtain at least 5 contact hours per year in area of practice, practicing within the legal boundaries of the MA Nurse Practice Act.
Technology
  • Utilize technological solutions to work processes and practices, accessing Lotus Notes and software applications required by department and unit standards.
  • Understand how to operate in downtime, ensuring continuity of care.
Compliance
  • Work within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to the position, complying with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard patient information, adhering to South Shore Health's privacy and security programs.
Patient and Family Centered Care
  • Convey respect for patient values, preferences, and expressed needs, recognizing the patient and family as important members of the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with the patient and family in planning, implementing, and evaluating care, welcoming their presence and participation at all times.
Age & Culture
  • Possess age and cultural knowledge and awareness, considering individual needs and interacting with sensitivity in the delivery of care/services.
  • Effectively utilize resources to provide care/services, such as interpreter services and online sources.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, Emergency Response Training Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) Certification may be required
