Position Overview: In the capacity of Programs Manager I, you will be instrumental in managing The Sophia Way's three shelter initiatives: the Day Center, Sophia's Place, and Helen's Place. Collaborating closely with the Programs Manager II and Shelter Leads, you will ensure adherence to our service standards while promoting a trauma-informed and supportive atmosphere. Your leadership will be vital in supervising staff, developing programs, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the operations of three shelter initiatives, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Engage with external partners and represent The Sophia Way in discussions with local shelters, organizations, and advocates.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of Programs staff, ensuring regular performance evaluations and adherence to policies.
  • Address employee issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary measures, with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of organizational policies and ensure staff compliance.
  • Guarantee the safety of shelter participants and staff by adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide support for special projects and emergencies.
  • Develop and sustain services for shelter participants, coordinating with external service providers.
  • Complete necessary reporting, documentation, and audits, and manage payroll submissions for Programs staff.
  • Oversee scheduling and communication for team and staff meetings.
  • Manage client feedback, analyze survey results, and implement enhancements to services.
  • Facilitate the Resident Council and continuously update departmental policies.
  • Step in for the Programs Manager II as needed and perform other related duties.

Supervision: You will report directly to the Managing Executive Director and supervise Shelter Leads, supporting their management of Shift Leads, Shelter Staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, retaining, and leading effective teams.
  • Strong management capabilities in goal-setting, mentoring, and performance assessment.
  • Ability to promote cross-team collaboration and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, and communication abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of stationary work with frequent movement between office and shelter locations.
  • Occasional use of stairs, off-site travel, and lifting of supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
