Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Controls Specialist to join our team at Katy Independent School District. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our district-wide HVAC equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine testing and maintenance of smoke and fire dampers in district facilities.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Update and modify building automation and life safety system programs as needed.
  • Perform repairs and new installations as requested on approved work orders.
  • Recommend when contracted assistance should be obtained from outside sources.
  • Practice all safety regulations related to the trade.
  • Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
  • Report any safety hazards in a building.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies.
  • Respond to emergency repairs immediately and report problems to the HVAC Supervisor.
Requirements
  • College hours, high school diploma or GED.
  • EPA certification I and II (required); Universal certification (preferred).
  • Texas operator's license.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal English.
Working Conditions

This position requires continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work will be performed in tiring and uncomfortable positions, both inside and outside, with exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district-wide travel may be required, and occasional night shifts may be necessary.
