POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Cashier plays a crucial role in facilitating customer transactions at the point of sale. This position involves engaging with customers, ensuring a seamless checkout experience, and maintaining a high standard of customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, ensuring a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.
  • Greets customers warmly and assists them in a friendly manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of products and promotions to provide informed assistance.
  • Organizes and replenishes merchandise in the checkout area when not processing transactions.
  • Enhances the customer experience by:
    • Identifying customer needs and preferences,
    • Offering tailored product suggestions,
    • Promoting loyalty programs and services.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.
  • Capability to build and maintain effective relationships with management, colleagues, and customers.
  • Proficient in operating computerized cash register systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs may be required.
  • Regular communication with customers and team members is essential.
  • Frequent repetitive motions involving hands and wrists.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • May require lifting of items up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with assistance as needed.

INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:

  • Tasks are performed under general supervision, utilizing established procedures. Some independent decision-making may be necessary to resolve issues.
