Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Hospital for Special Care. As a key member of our Inpatient Respiratory Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, and neurological impairments, adhering to State of CT practice act and licensure requirements.
  • Consult with healthcare team members to establish patient goals and develop treatment plans, utilizing respiratory practice standards, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Plan, implement, and deliver patient care, utilizing therapeutic modalities and interventions, and revising treatments as necessary.
  • Document patient interactions, evaluations, assessments, and interventions, adhering to established EMR guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare team members, supervisors, and students to enhance positive relationships and promote patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory care, recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed by the State of Connecticut.
  • CPR Certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers.
  • Active Member of the AARC (optional).
Work Environment

This role requires working primarily indoors, with occasional need to be outdoors. You will be working continuously around others, while also working alone and with others on a frequent basis. Emergency responses and exposure to body fluids/blood-borne pathogens may be required.

Physical and Cognitive Demands
  • Standing and/or walking for long periods, up to 150 minutes at a time, with infrequent sitting.
  • Overhead reaching, climbing, squatting, and kneeling are occasionally required.
  • Lifting of weights greater than 75 pounds is occasionally required for patient repositioning.
  • Pushing of objects greater than 60 pounds is frequently required for patient transfer.
  • Fine manipulation is required for patient care and ventilator management.
