The Liability Claims Analyst is responsible for overseeing intricate and challenging liability claims in accordance with company protocols and industry best practices. This role operates within a designated authority to assess benefits owed, manage subrogation efforts, and negotiate settlements, all while ensuring exceptional customer service to achieve optimal claim outcomes, aligning with the objectives of the claims department and CorVel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and acknowledge claims, confirming policy coverage.
- Investigate claims to validate their legitimacy, gathering necessary documentation for state agencies.
- Establish reserves and authorize payments within defined limits.
- Develop and implement comprehensive action plans aimed at minimizing claim costs.
- Oversee subrogation processes and any related litigation.
- Manage potential recoveries associated with claims.
- Maintain communication regarding claim status with both customers and claimants.
- Adhere to client and carrier guidelines, participating in claims reviews as necessary.
- Foster and maintain professional relationships with customers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state regulations.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to assist colleagues in enhancing their understanding of claims processes.
- Strong analytical skills for problem identification and resolution.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of claims administration and cost containment related to liability.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in AL, including 1st Party, PD, and BI claims.
- Experience with GL claims is advantageous.
- Familiarity with litigation processes is a plus.
- Experience managing liability claims for public entities is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
CorVel employs a market-driven approach to compensation, with salary ranges varying based on location and other factors such as skills, experience, and market conditions. Pay rates are subject to change.
