Position Overview

Under general oversight, this role entails supervising, coordinating, and managing the safe and effective functioning of a designated work unit.

  • Directs, oversees, and assesses the tasks of personnel within the assigned unit.
  • Implements production strategies in accordance with established schedules.
  • May engage in a comprehensive range of daily operational responsibilities, handling the most complex tasks.
  • Evaluates ongoing work, identifies challenges, and may initiate corrective measures.
  • Conducts performance assessments for subordinate team members.
  • Prepares forecasts regarding staffing, materials, and equipment needs for upcoming projects.
  • Maintains an inventory of components and supplies, authorizes material and equipment purchases, and keeps detailed records of time, materials, and equipment usage.
  • Educates staff on safety protocols and maintains safety documentation for teams.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED and five years of relevant operational experience, including supervisory or leadership roles, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical mining-related field with at least one summer internship (or equivalent) in a mining or industrial setting, including supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in electrical safety practices, particularly in substation and motor control center maintenance.
  • Current NFPA 70E and NEC training certifications.
  • Experience in supervisory or leadership roles and/or leadership training.
  • Familiarity with electrical maintenance standards and processes (including NFPA 70B).
  • Knowledge of substation maintenance procedures, including breaker, relay, and transformer testing, as well as cable integrity.
  • Understanding of instrumentation and control systems, including PLCs.
  • Comprehension of power distribution systems, both medium and low voltage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues using testing equipment, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Experience in underground work environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP applications.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Ability to comprehend and apply verbal and written instructions related to work and safety in English.
  • Effective communication in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Capability to work in potentially high-pressure situations.
  • Work settings may include exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, toxic substances, and airborne particles.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb, and work on elevated platforms.
  • Occasionally required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds).
  • May involve rotating shifts in a continuous operation.
  • Personal protective equipment is mandatory in mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environments.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role may also be eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
