About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist PRN to join our team at Methodist Hospital Texsan. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with our experienced surgical team to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field during surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate with the circulating perioperative nurse to ensure seamless communication and execution of surgical plans.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and established protocols.
  • Monitor the sterile field during procedures and take corrective action as needed to maintain asepsis.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of medications and solutions under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain accountability for instruments, sponges, and sharps throughout the surgical procedure to prevent foreign objects from being retained in the surgical wound.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Surgical Technologist program or 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist (prior to 9/1/2009).
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery, Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
