Prairie Ridge Health is seeking a skilled Financial Counselor to join our Registration Department. This is a PRN (as needed) position for weekday shifts, Monday through Friday.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as the financial liaison between patients and Prairie Ridge Health, ensuring seamless communication and resolution of financial obligations.
- Research and verify insurance eligibility and benefit information to ensure accurate billing and payment processing.
- Communicate with patients and guarantors to explain financial balances and provide counseling on payment options and plans.
- Secure payments or payment arrangements, and connect patients with federal or state assistance programs or complete and obtain approval for Community Care applications.
- Pre-register patients for scheduled outpatient procedures and serve as a resource for Patient Access staff.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in health insurance, collection techniques, or patient registration.
- Intermediate word processing proficiency, including the ability to produce professional letters, forms, and tables.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data import, log creation, and formula manipulation.
- Basic math and algebraic equation calculation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective patient and staff interaction.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college education highly preferred.
- Professionalism, assertiveness, and exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills for coordinating multiple resources.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Patient Account Technician or Certified Healthcare Collection Specialist.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
Work Schedule: Various shifts, Monday through Friday
FTE: PRN
