Transportation Technician - School Bus Maintenance

  • The wage is set at $29 - $35 per hour, per Union contract (NOT flat-rate)
  • $3,000 sign-on bonus (conditions apply; offer expires 10/31/2024)
  • ASE incentive of $.25/hour for each relevant ASE obtained (we pay for the training materials and exams) - Must obtain six ASEs within six months of hire.
  • Monday-Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm or 8:30 am - 5 pm full-time shift

About the Transportation Technician Role

As a Transportation Technician at First Student, your day will include performing maintenance to ensure our fleet of Thomas C2 school buses are safe for road travel. You will also use your diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues needing repair work. Your tasks will include:

  • Performing maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions
  • Completing work orders
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services

You might be a fit for our Transportation Technician role if:

  • You want to work in a position that meaningfully impacts your community
  • You have 3 - 5 years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
  • You have a valid driver's license and a willingness to obtain a CDL (don't worry, we will train you for this)
  • You have a mechanic's tool set
  • You want to grow, learn, and develop your skillset through ASE testing
