Job Overview

Position Summary

The primary role of this position is to execute sophisticated repairs on industrial machinery. Responsibilities include performing essential service tasks, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or reconditioning of components to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

The technician will collaborate with the Shop Foreman to receive assignments for evaluation and identification of necessary repairs. Coordination with the Service Writer and parts departments is essential to ascertain parts requirements and estimate labor for each task. Completing all work within designated timeframes and inspecting each job for proper and safe functionality before final approval is mandatory.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with all safety regulations.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for warranty and customer records.
  • Utilize manuals, repair guides, and parts diagrams to diagnose issues with engines, fuel systems, transmissions, and other components of material handling equipment.
  • Proficiently use meters, measuring tools, and computers to test and recalibrate equipment, and complete warranty documentation. Ensure safety equipment is maintained as required.
  • Employ hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts or equipment on engines, fuel systems, and transmissions.
  • Safely operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other equipment to position parts for repair.
  • Access various resources and computer systems to reference parts, gather information, and input data.
  • Climb onto, under, and into vehicles, using tools to disassemble and reassemble components such as sheet metal, engines, and fuel systems.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on product advancements.
  • Assist with building maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally more).

Experience Requirements

2-5 years of relevant experience.

Education and Certification Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Certification as a Forklift Operator is mandatory.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is performed in a maintenance shop setting, with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents, necessitating a thorough understanding of safety protocols. The role requires physical capability for continuous movement, including climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
