Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a driven and experienced Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) or Senior Engineer PE to become part of our expanding Design Management Services team. This position involves close collaboration with a diverse group of engineers, designers, and specialists to deliver high-quality projects for various clients, including municipalities, counties, and commercial enterprises.

Primary Duties:
  • Engage in various Civil Engineering project components, including studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Projects may encompass the planning, modeling, and design of facilities such as water and wastewater treatment systems, lift stations, pump stations, utilities, drainage systems, and roadway designs.
  • Implement engineering best practices for civil engineering projects across a diverse client base, adapting swiftly to new challenges.
  • Support senior engineers in developing project plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, technical documents, and cost assessments.
  • Assist in construction management tasks, including material submittal reviews and contractor coordination.
  • Conduct site assessments, surveys, and inspections, contributing to data collection and analysis for infrastructure initiatives.
  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, clients, and public agencies.
Qualifications

Requirements for Civil Engineer EIT:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in municipal, state, and land development engineering.
  • Active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification for the State of Virginia is required or in progress.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, organization, accountability, and reliability.
  • Physical capability to perform fieldwork.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS).
  • Proven track record of meeting project scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
Requirements for Senior Engineer - PE:
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Virginia or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, particularly in grading, drainage, and stormwater management for land development projects.
  • Familiarity with VDEQ stormwater and erosion control regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Experience in client relationship management.
  • Experience in developing project scopes, programming, and fee proposals.
