About the Role

Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audio Technician to join our team. As an Audio Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the technical aspects of our productions and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as sound engineer and mix engineer for live events and productions
  • Work with the audio manager to install and strike sound systems for School of Drama productions
  • Lead small groups of students in the tasks associated with load-in and load-out
  • Assist with maintenance and upkeep of audio equipment and infrastructure
  • Mentor students in the process of installing theatrical audio systems in a theater
Requirements
  • 3 years' experience working in audio for theatre and live events
  • Ability to perform specific tasks in specific scenarios involving lifting, balance, and working at heights, or to find alternative means of completing any such tasks involved
  • Sufficient knowledge of Dante networked audio systems (at least level 2 certification)
  • Proficient with QLab, DigiCo & Yamaha consoles, Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD
Qualifications
  • High School or GED
  • 1-3 years experience
