MISSION OF THE FAIR AND EQUITABLE HOUSING OFFICE (FEHO):
Our mission is to guarantee that all New Yorkers have an equal chance to secure housing, irrespective of race, color, familial status, religion, gender, disabilities, national origin, marital status, age, or sexual orientation.
- The office is dedicated to eliminating obstacles to housing at the state level and to actively promoting fair housing;
- FEHO assesses how HCR's public investments influence the broader housing market and collaborates with partners to ensure affordable housing is accessible in all regions of the State;
- FEHO engages in educational outreach;
- FEHO supervises Section 3 compliance for grantees/subgrantees to ensure that economic opportunities generated by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) financial assistance are, to the maximum extent feasible, directed to low- and very low-income individuals. FEHO also monitors adherence to federal Minority and Woman Business Enterprise (MWBE) hiring and contracting standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Section 3/MWBE Coordinator and FEHO director in compliance and reporting concerning all aspects of federal laws and regulations related to Section 3 and federal MWBE requirements.
- Organize and maintain documentation and reports on Section 3 and MWBE compliance.
- Revise documents, training materials, and the website regarding Section 3 and MWBE program requirements.
- Conduct follow-up communications via calls and emails concerning reporting obligations to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate and schedule training sessions with internal and external stakeholders, and keep records of attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of relevant experience*
- Exceptional oral communication and presentation abilities;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and teleconferencing tools (e.g., WebEx);
- Ability to commute to New York City offices;
- Commitment to the mission.
*Substitution: Certification (such as the International Association of Administrative Professionals' Certified Administrative Professional), diploma, or associate's degree in office administration, secretarial science, administrative assistance, paralegal studies, business technology, or office technology may replace two years of experience.
