Key Responsibilities
Emergency Medical Technicians are responsible for responding to all dispatched calls in a timely and effective manner, ensuring the highest quality of patient care while maintaining a safe environment. The EMT collaborates with a Paramedic on an advanced life support ambulance and plays a significant role in patient management, including assessment, triage, and transport in accordance with established protocols. There may be instances where the EMT works alongside another EMT on a dual-EMT unit within the organization.
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 20 years.
- Certification in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
- Certification in Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) certification as an EMT Paramedic.
- National Registry or Texas DSHS Licensed Paramedic/Equivalent Associate's Degree.
- Texas DSHS certification as an EMT.
- Maintain all certifications mandated by the Medical Control Board and by the UT Health Emergency Medical Services Master Contract.
- Possess and uphold a current Texas motor vehicle operator's license and comply with all organizational requirements.
