About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plumbing Design Engineer to join our team at PAE Consulting in Seattle, Washington. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing plumbing systems for various building types, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Prepare deliverable documents, including narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications, for plumbing systems.
  • Project Coordination: Attend client meetings, lead the coordination effort between external and internal project teams, and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Engineering Judgment: Independently evaluate and apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures to complete projects from concepts through construction.
  • Team Leadership: Assemble effective project teams, oversee plumbing design calculations and equipment selection, and perform site visits and issue reports.
  • Training and Development: Provide training, guidance, and development for staff, write plumbing specifications, and update master specifications and standards.
  • Client Relationships: Develop client relationships, participate on firm leadership committees, and determine plumbing system requirements for various building types.
  • Project Management: Oversee the application of the project quality management plan (QMP), project team leadership, and discipline project management, complete the project on time within budget.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical resource for the company, inspire and motivate staff, and ensure compliance with applicable building codes, plumbing design concepts, and standards.
Requirements
  • Education: College degree for discipline work or equivalent experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred, Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) preferred, and LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years direct experience in MEP Consulting or 7+ years related experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in mechanical and plumbing system design, advanced understanding and application of building codes, plumbing design concepts, and applicable plumbing codes and standards.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to effectively communicate design options, strong delegation skills, attention to detail, and advanced organizational skills.

  • Competitive Compensation: Hiring base salary range: $94,950 - $130,500 annual.
